On March 14, 2022, just after 3am, North Precinct Officers were dispatched on the report of a carjacking (robbery of a vehicle) in the 11600 Block of Northeast Glenn Widing Drive (Home Depot). During the robbery, the suspect reportedly fired a shot at the victim. Officers arrived to find the victim and his passenger were uninjured, but their truck had been taken. Responding officers immediately put out a vehicle description. The victims' Dalmatian was in the vehicle at the time it was stolen.

A short time later, an officer recognized the truck as it passed her going in the opposite direction at a very high rate of speed in the area of Northeast Killingsworth Street and Northeast Sandy Boulevard. She turned around but the truck had been driving extremely fast, and was already a long distance away. As the officer got closer to the area she saw the truck driving towards, people began flagging her down and pointing her to the scene of a crash involving the truck. The driver, 44-year-old Richard Andrew Flynt, suffered a significant but non-life threatening injury. The victim’s Dalmatian was no longer in the vehicle, and witnesses did not see it leave the scene of the crash. Flynt is being detained at the hospital on unrelated warrants and is being investigated by Robbery Detectives for the following crimes:

• Attempted Murder;
• Robbery in the First Degree;
• Felon in Possession of a Firearm;
• Unlawful Discharging of a Firearm;
• Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle;
• Menacing;
• Theft in the First Degree; and
• Several Misdemeanor Charges

The spotted family member was located this afternoon and reunited with mom and dad.
