Suspect Facing Attempted Murder Charges in Mt. Scott-Arleta Neighborhood Shooting

A man is facing attempted murder charges after being arrested related to a Mt. Scott-Arleta Neighborhood shooting last month.

On Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 8:24p.m., East Precinct officers responded to a report of a shooting and car crash at Southeast Foster Road and Southeast 82nd Avenue. Officers learned that a suspect fired at a victim in a nearby parking lot. Officers learned that the victim left the scene and was transported by private vehicle to the hospital. It was determined that the victim, a 52-year-old male, was not shot, but that he suffered some minor injuries trying to avoid the gunfire.

The suspect drove away but crashed into another vehicle in the intersection. There were no serious injuries related to the crash. The suspect ran off on foot and was not immediately located. East Precinct and Focused Intervention Team (FIT) officers, as well as criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division, processed evidence at the scene. Detectives with the Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) conducted follow-up investigation.

On Wednesday, October 26, 2022, detectives arrested Robert L. Hodges, Jr, 56, of Portland. He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. The related case number is 22-257913.
