Focused Intervention Team Makes Two Arrests And Seizes Two Guns After Pursuit (Photo)

On June 9, 2023, at 7:11 p.m., Officers from the Focused Intervention Team (FIT) attempted to stop a car they believed to be involved in criminal activity. In the area of Southeast Holgate Boulevard and Southeast 114th Avenue, FIT officers witnessed the car being driven in a reckless manner and when they attempted to stop the car, it took off and a pursuit began. Officers from the East Precinct, the K9 Unit, and Gresham came to assist.

An officer was able to throw out spike strips in front of the eluding car, which was successful. As the car’s tires were going flat, the car turned down a dead-end street, where two of the occupants ran from the car and three stayed in the car.

At the scene, officers saw firearm magazines lying on the floor of the car. Officers gathered additional information which suggested the suspects were armed with a rifle and identified a home they entered. Officers set up a perimeter around the home and spoke to someone inside by telephone. Eventually, the two suspects who ran from the vehicle were taken into custody as they cooperated and came out of the home.

FIT officers were able to get a search warrant for a home in the 13500 block of Southeast Steele Street and inside they located two AR pistols and other evidence.

A 17-year-old was arrested and transported to Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Home (JDH) where he was lodged for Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Elude in a Vehicle, Elude on Foot, Reckless Driving, and Reckless Endangering another person. 18-year-old Anthony Hunter was issued a citation for Elude on Foot and Interfering with a Police Officer.
