Victim Identified in Homicide in Old Town (Photo)

The victim in the July 25th homicide in Old Town is identified as Jason M. Calamusa, 46, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death and they are asking for privacy at this time.

The Medical Examiner determined he died of homicide by gunshot.

On Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at 11:58 p.m., officers from the Central Precinct responded to a shooting call in the area of Northwest Couch Street and Northwest 3rd Street. When officers arrived, they found a man who was deceased. No one has been detained and no arrests have been made.

The Portland Police Homicide detectives have responded to the scene to investigate. During the investigation, Northwest 3rd Street and Northwest 4th Street will be closed from Northwest Davis to West Burnside. Additionally, Northwest Couch Street will be closed from Northwest 3rd Street to Northwest 5th Street.

The identity of the victim will be released after the Medical Examiner has confirmed cause of death and after family members have been notified. The PIO is not responding to the scene. More information will be released when appropriate.
