46-year-old Shaka Imani Chambers has been arrested for the murder of Juan Carlos Artiles. Chambers is charged with Murder in the Second Degree with a Firearm, Burglary in the First Degree, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

The victim in this homicide is identified as 27-year-old Juan Carlos Artiles. The Medical Examiner determined the cause of death as gunshot wound and the manner of death a homicide. Artiles' family has been notified of his death, and they provided the attached picture for public release. Artiles' family is asking for privacy at this time.

On 9/4/2022 at approximately 5:42 a.m., Officers from the East Precinct responded to the 6000 block of Southeast 90th Avenue on a report of a person shot inside a residence.

Officers arrived and found an adult male deceased. Investigators from the Homicide Detail have been called out to investigate.

SE Woodstock Blvd between SE 89th Ave and SE Foster St will be closed for several hours as Detectives and Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division collect evidence and process the scene.
