###ORIGINAL MESSAGE BELOW###

A Centennial Neighborhood resident walked away from his home and is now missing and considered endangered due to medical conditions.

On Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 10:19a.m., East Precinct officers responded to a missing person report in the 1000 block of Southeast 174th Avenue. They learned that Alfredo Caoile, 81, walked away from his home at about 8:35a.m. He suffers from dementia and requires medications for other chronic medical conditions. Officers began an immediate area search and notified the Portland Police Missing Persons Unit. Multnomah County Search and Rescue K9 responded to assist as well, but so far searches have not been successful.

Alfredo is an Asian male, 5'8" in height, thin, last seen wearing brown and black striped beanie, gray sweater, brown and black striped pajama pants, and black shoes. He has limited mobility and shuffles when he walks. Alfredo understands English but has reverted back to his native Tagalog language with the advancement of his dementia. He likely will not ask for help. He does not have a cell phone and is not familiar with the transit system. Caoile is pronounced "koh-WEE-lee."

If anyone sees Alfredo, please call 911. If anyone has information about him or this case, please e-mail missing@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference case number 22-342759.
