UPDATE #2: Victims Identified in Woodlawn Neighborhood Shooting (Photo)

The victims in the Woodlawn Neighborhood shooting homicide case are identified as Deja Willingham, 27, and Marcel Bryant, 30. Their families have been notified of their deaths and provided the attached photographs for public release. Deja Willingham’s family is requesting no media contact. Marcel Bryant’s family has a representative available to speak to the press. Media representatives can request contact information by e-mailing ppbpio@police.portlandoregon.gov.

The medical examiner determined that both died of homicide by gunshot wounds.

This remains an active investigation and detectives want to hear from anyone with information. The first victim was preliminarily identified as an adult female. As detectives and criminalists processed the scene and sought evidence in the area, a second deceased person was discovered nearby. The person was preliminarily identified as an adult male. The medical examiner will confirm identities of the deceased and determine cause and manner of death at a later time.

The on-scene investigation is wrapping up and the streets that were closed are reopening. But detectives continue actively investigating this case and want to hear from anyone with information. One person is deceased after a shooting in the Woodlawn Neighborhood.

On Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 9:12p.m., North Precinct officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 2000 block of Northeast Lombard Street. When they arrived they located one person deceased at the scene.

The suspect or suspects left the scene and were not immediately located. No arrests have been made.

The Portland Police Bureau Homicide Unit is responding to the scene to investigate. During the investigation, Northeast Lombard Street is closed between Northeast 18th Avenue and Northeast 22nd Avenue. In addition, Northeast 22nd Avenue is closed south to Northeast Dekum Street.
