Shooting Investigation Underway in Portland's Buckman Neighborhood - No Known Injuries

On Sunday, January 14, 2018, at 9:15 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the report of gunfire at the Laurel Park East Apartments, located in the 100 block of Southeast 26th Avenue.

Officers responded to the location after a community member contacted 9-1-1 to report hearing a disturbance and gunfire.

When officers arrived, they learned the caller heard several people arguing near a white Toyota Corolla that was on Southeast 26th Avenue. While the people argued, the witness heard gunfire then observed a bullet strike to the witness' apartment.

Officers searched the neighborhood with a K-9 team for the people who were reported to be arguing near the Toyota at the time the gunfire. Officers did not locate the people associated with the Toyota. Officers located the unoccupied white Toyota Corolla near the intersection of Southeast 26th Avenue and Southeast Ankeny Street. The Toyota was seized and towed as evidence.

There were no reports of injured people at the scene or anyone arriving at area hospitals with injuries as a result of this shooting.

Criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division have responded to the location to assist with the investigation.
