UPDATE: Pedestrian In February 1st Fatal Crash Identified

A pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Southeast 148th Avenue and Southeast Stark Street on February 1, 2018, has been identified as 53-year-old Yelena V. Loukas of Portland.

Investigators continue to search for the vehicle and driver involved in this hit and run fatal traffic crash. Witnesses described the involved vehicle as a white or silver medium sized four door sedan.

On Thursday, February 1, 2018, at 12:51 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle at Southeast 148th Avenue and Southeast Stark Street.

Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived on scene and located a woman laying in the roadway. The woman was suffering from catastrophic injuries. Medical personnel determined the woman was deceased.

Based on preliminary information, officers believe the woman utilized the cross-walk on the east side of Southeast 148th Avenue. The woman was reportedly crossing northbound and had a walk signal when she was struck by a vehicle. The driver and vehicle that struck the women left the crash location. Officers searched for the vehicle, but have not located the vehicle or driver at this time.

The Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team responded to the area and continued the investigation.

This investigation is ongoing and more information will be provided as the investigation continues.

This is the second traffic crash related fatality investigated by the Major Crash Team in 2018.
