UPDATE: Suspect Identified in Thursday Afternoon Stabbing (Photo)

The suspect arrested during a stabbing investigation near Northeast 12th Avenue and Northeast Glisan Street on Thursday afternoon has been identified as 38-year-old Carlos S. Nampulacruz. Nampulacruz was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Assault in the Second Degree and a Failure to Appear warrant for charges of Domestic Violence Assault in the Fourth Degree and two counts of Domestic Violence Harassment.

Nampulacruz will be arraigned on Friday, February 9, 2018.

On Thursday, February 8, 2018, at 2:24 p.m., Central and North Precinct officers responded to the report of a stabbing near the intersection of Northeast Glisan Street and Northeast 12th Avenue.

As officers responded to the scene, multiple community members contacted 9-1-1 to report the stabbing and the suspect's behavior and location. Witnesses reported the suspect had threatened people with a knife, broke a car window with a rock, and stabbed a juvenile male.

Community members continued to provide updates regarding the suspect's location. Officers located the suspect near Northeast 13th Avenue and Northeast Lloyd Boulevard. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. Officers also located multiple knives in the possession of the suspect at the time he was taken into custody.

Additional officers located the juvenile male victim. Emergency medical responders arrived and provided medical aid and transported the victim to an area hospital by ambulance with what was believed to be a non-life-threatening injury.

Detectives with the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Assault Detail are investigating this investigation. Criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division are also responding.

The suspect's identity and charges will be provided when he is lodged at the Multnomah County Jail.
