On Sunday, March 4, 2018, at 8:41 a.m., Central Precinct officers arrested 35-year-old Jeffrey J. Lafraniere at a residence in the 700 block of Southwest St. Clair Avenue.

Officers and detectives began investigating reports of burglaries at locations in the Pearl, Northwest and South Portland Neighborhoods from January to March. Lafraniere is suspected to have burglarized:
* Asa Lofts, located at 1200 Northwest Marshall Street
* Park Place Condos, located at 2245 Northwest Park Place
* Legends Condos, located at 1132 Northwest 19th Avenue
* Lexis on the Park, located at 1125 Northwest 9th Avenue

* Grays Landing, located at 0650 SW Lowell Ave

Officers went to the residence in the 700 block of Southwest St. Clair Avenue after a Central Precinct officer recognized Lafraniere's picture in a bulletin sent by detectives. The officer knew Lafraniere stayed at the location on occasion. When officers arrived and knocked on an apartment associated with Lafraniere, he came to the door and was taken into custody without incident.

Officers and detectives searched the apartment where Lafraniere was taken into custody and located and seized evidence associated with multiple burglaries.

Based on information learned in the investigations, detectives believe Lafraniere gained access to secure buildings by following people with access into buildings or by forcing doors open to gain entry.

Lafraniere was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Theft in the First Degree (eight counts), Mail Theft, Attempt Burglary in the First Degree, Burglary in the First Degree (ten counts).

Detectives continue to investigate these incidents and believe Lefraniere may be responsible for additional burglaries. Anyone with information about Lefraniere should contact Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Burglary Taskforce Detective Joseph Corona at 503-823-4800 or
