The man that died at the scene of an accident this morning on Highway 30 has been identified as 25-year-old Zeken Barker of Portland. Mr. Barker was hit by a vehicle that was travelling westbound and died at the scene. The stretch of road where this accident occurred is dark and it was raining at the time of the incident. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The Major Crash Team is investigating this incident and at this time investigators do not believe that the driver was impaired and speed does not appear to be a factor. No citations were issued against the driver.

This morning at 5:15 a.m., Portland Police responded to the area of Highway 30 and Northwest Harborton Drive on a call of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle. When officers arrived, they found a deceased adult male at the scene. The vehicle involved in the accident was still at the scene and the driver is cooperating with investigators.

The Portland Police Bureau's Major Crash Team was called to the location of the accident to assist in the investigation and will continue to be on the scene for the next few hours. Westbound traffic on Highway 30 is being impacted and traffic is being detoured. Eastbound traffic on Highway 30 is also impacted and only one lane of traffic is currently open.

Additional details of this fatal accident will be released later in the day.
