Suspect Identified In Tuesday Afternoon Stabbing Investigation (Photo)

The suspect taken into custody during a stabbing investigation on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, in the 1700 block of Southeast Tenino Street has been identified as 40-year-old Michael R. Hecht.

Hecht was lodged in the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of Domestic Violence Assault in the First Degree, Burglary in the First Degree, Domestic Violence Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Domestic Violence Attempted Murder.

Detectives with the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Assault Detail continue to investigate this assault. Anyone with information about Schneider or this assault should contact detectives at 503-823-0479.

On Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at 2:12 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the report of a stabbing in the 1700 block of Southeast Tenino Street.

Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived and contacted an adult male who had been assaulted by a person with a knife. Medical personnel transported the victim by ambulance to a Portland area hospital for treatment of what was believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Based on preliminary information, investigators believe the victim was stabbed while inside an apartment in the 1700 block of Southeast Tenino Street.

During the investigation, Milwaukie Police Department Officers located and detained a suspect in this stabbing investigation. Central Precinct officers responded to Milwaukie and took the suspect into their custody. The suspect's identity and charges will be provided after the suspect is lodged at the Multnomah County Jail.

There is not believed to be a danger to the community in relation to this stabbing.

Members of the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Assault Detail will lead this investigation. Criminalists with the Portland Police Bureau's Forensic Evidence Division are also responding to assist with this investigation.
