UPDATE: Suspect Identified In Thursday Afternoon Firearm Investigation (Photo)

The suspect taken into custody after officers responded to the report that a firearm had discharged inside the Jason Lee Elementary School Cafeteria on Thursday, October 4, 2018, has been identified as 27-year-old Antoinette A. Riley.

During the investigation on Thursday, officers assisted by a police canine canvassed the area near Jason Lee Elementary School in an attempt to locate the firearm that was believed to have discharged in the school. At this time investigators have not located the firearm. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of this firearm or anyone who locates the firearm should not touch the gun, but immediately contact the Portland Police Bureau at 503-823-3333.

Riley was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail and has since been released. Riley was charged with Possession of a Firearm in a Public Building.

On Thursday, October 4, 2018, at 4:36 p.m., East Precinct Officers responded to Jason Lee Elementary School, located at 2222 Northeast 92nd Avenue, on the report a gun was discharged inside the school.

As officers responded to the school, a caller to 9-1-1 stated the person believed to be involved with the discharge of the firearm had left the school property. The caller provided a description of the suspect to the emergency dispatcher and the information was relayed to responding officers.

Officers arrived at the school and determined no one was injured as a result of the firearm discharge. As officers searched the neighborhood they located a person that matched the suspect's description near Northeast 92nd Avenue and Northeast Halsey Street. The person was contacted by officers and has been detained at this time.

Based on preliminary information gathered at this time, investigators believe the suspect entered Jason Lee Elementary School to pick up her child. While the suspect was in the cafeteria, a firearm in the suspect's possession discharged.

During a canvas of the cafeteria officers located evidence of gunfire.

It is early in this investigation; at this time investigators do not believe the firearm was discharged with the immediate intent to injure. Additionally, investigators do not believe there is a danger to the school community or neighboring community at this time in relation to this investigation.

The suspect will be identified after which time she is lodged at the Multnomah County Jail.

The Portland Police Bureau Tactical Operation Division's Gun Violence Response Team has responded to continue this investigation. Criminalists with the Forensics Evidence Division have also responded to assist with this investigation.
