Early this morning, Thursday December 16, 2010, Portland Police booked 28-year-old Caleb Pruitt into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of DUII and Criminally Negligent Homicide. These charges are a result of the fatal crash last night on Southwest Barbur Boulevard.

Investigators learned that 26-year-old Angela Burke of New York was walking her bicycle southbound on Southwest Barbur Boulevard approximately 1/2 mile south of Hamilton Street. Burke began to cross Barbur and was struck by a 2008 Subaru Impreza driven by Caleb Pruitt who was also traveling southbound on Barbur. Investigators learned that just prior to the accident Pruitt was driving at a high rate of speed and appeared to lose control of the car before striking Burke and killing her. The passenger in the vehicle driven by Pruitt went to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone with additional information is urged to call Traffic Officer Barry Busse at (503) 823-2216.
