Stabbing in Buckman Neighborhood-Victim Sustains Non-Life Threatening Injury

On Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 5:36 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to Southeast 3rd Avenue and Southeast Morrison Street on the report of a subject who had been stabbed.

When officers arrived they located an injured adult male. The victim appeared to have been injured by a knife and was provided emergency medical aid by responding emergency medical personnel. The injured man was transported by ambulance to a Portland hospital for treatment of what is believed to be a non-life-threatening injury.

As officers continued the investigation, they learned the suspect left on foot towards the East. The suspect was described as a Black male, age 20-30, wearing a blue or black hoodie, green pants, and a backpack. Officers conducted an intense area search and one person was detained and released. No arrest has been made at this time.

Based on preliminary information, investigators believe the suspect and victim were involved in a disturbance prior to the stabbing. Based on information gathered during the investigation, officers do not believe there was a danger posed to the public in relation to this assault.
