At approximately 2:30 a.m. February 12, 2011, North Precinct Officers responded to Emanuel Hospital to investigate the circumstances surrounding what was first reported to be a 38-year-old male seeking treatment for gun shot wounds. Officers learned the victim was suffering from stab wounds and was not shot. Officers also learned the incident took place in the 6800 block of North Fessenden Street. A crime scene was located and the Forensic Evidence Division and Gang Enforcement Team were called to investigate this stabbing. Investigators are not releasing the name of the victim and it is unknown as this time whether the stabbing incident was gang related. The investigation will remain with the Gang Enforcement Team until that determination has been made. The 38-year-old male is in critical condition. There is no additional information or suspect description at this time.
