Put the Luck of the Irish on your Side: Don't Drive Impaired #StPatricksDay2019 (Photo)

March 14, 2019 11:50

March is a busy month with St. Patrick's Day and Spring Break coming up. To ensure community safety, and to prevent needless tragedies to loved ones within our community, the Portland Police Bureau's Traffic Division will be adding DUII enforcement units during the entire month of March. Already this year, the Portland Police Bureau's Traffic Division has responded to 14 major crash incidents involving 8 fatalities. During the month of February 2019, Portland Police Bureau officers arrested 95 impaired drivers for Driving under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII).

We hope everyone will enjoy this year's St. Patrick's Day and Spring Break celebrations responsibly. Please continue to find your designated drivers, use mass transit, taxis, or rideshare services. If you choose to drink or smoke, please do it responsibly and remember that buzzed driving is drunk driving. Support zero tolerance for impaired driving. Please report suspected impaired drivers to 911.

The Portland Police Bureau is committed to working with our partners in government and the community to create safer streets; working towards reducing, and eventually eliminating, traffic fatalities as part of our Vision Zero efforts. Make plans for your safety, as well as others, and enjoy the upcoming festivities.
