UPDATE: PPB Investigating Shooting in East Portland-One Male Deceased (Photo)

The Medical Examiner has identified the deceased as 18-year-old Lorenzo C. Gordon. The manner and cause of death was homicide by gunshot wound.

Gordon's family has provided the attached photograph of him for public release. They do not wish to speak to the media.

The investigation is continuing.

The investigation at the Springtree Apartments has concluded and the area has reopened. No further updates are expected until after the autopsy is completed by the Medical Examiner.

On Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 7:59 P.M., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a subject shot in the 600 block of Southeast 162nd Avenue. Officers located an injured male subject in the parking lot of the Springtree Apartments. Officers requested medical assistance, but the man died at the scene.

Detectives from the Homicide Division and Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division are responding to assume the investigation. The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death. The victim's identity will be confirmed by the Medical Examiner and after next of kin are notified, the victim's identity will be released.

Officers have the neighborhood closed off for the investigation and the closure will likely occur for several hours.
