PPB Releases Information for Community Preparation for August 17th Demonstrations (Photo)

Portland Police Bureau members continue to plan and prepare for anticipated demonstrations on August 17th. In order to help the public to prepare and stay informed, the Bureau is sharing some tips and techniques. A document with information and tips about the event and an infographic of the anticipated area impacted and other events throughout the city are attached.

The Portland Police Bureau is also releasing information comparing Portland's crime rate with other comparable cities. Events such as the ones upcoming on August 17th can leave individuals with a perception of fear and this information helps to inform individuals with data. The Portland Police Bureau's liaison teams have been attempting and making contact with some of the event organizers in order to achieve the goal of a safe event. The Portland Police Bureau's liaison teams attempt to work with all event organizers to establish an environment where community members may safely practice their First Amendment Rights of speech and assembly. The Police Bureau Liaison Teams are available to assist event organizers in planning a safe event for participants, Portland community members, and businesses.
