The Portland Police Bureau has released a new podcast regarding the work of the Portland Police Sunshine Division in our community.
Portland Police Officer Matt Tobey and Executive Director, Kyle Camberg discuss the various ways 96-year-old the agency provides emergency food and clothing to those in need. https://www.portlandoregon.gov/police/article/747308
An independent charity, in unique partnership with the Portland Police Bureau, Sunshine Division operates year-round, and serves Portland's most vulnerable populations: families with children, seniors, the disabled, and veterans as they face economic challenges to meet basic needs. In addition to the over 15,000 households served directly through their doors each year, Sunshine Division donates food to over 50+ food-relief charities in five surrounding counties. Sunshine Division distributes new and gently used clothing through their Threadz clothing room and new clothing through the Izzy's Kids "Shop With a Cop" program, which pairs police officers with low-income students for a school clothes shopping trip. The Police Bureau continues to add podcasts monthly and episodes can be downloaded from all the popular podcast directories. The Bureau has released podcasts regarding domestic violence, the Sexual Assault Unit; demonstrations; hiring and recruiting; traffic; the Behavioral Health Unit; and interviews with the Precinct Commanders.
