Effective today, March 17, 2020, PPB's East and North Precincts are closed to the public. Central Precinct will remain open and staffed twenty-four hours a day. This is another effort to prevent the COVID-19 virus from spreading in Portland.
Portland Police Bureau Officers continue to respond to calls in person for emergency matters and take calls by phone when appropriate. For non-emergency calls, PPB is encouraging community members to use other forms of reporting, such as online and telephone reporting.
PPB officers are still serving the community. We are responding in person and over the phone. Here is a video highlighting our current response: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHJAl9ifq7A&feature=youtu.be
From February 11 through March 11, 2020:
* PPB has reviewed 2,331 online reports.
*PPB members with the Operational Support Unit have talked to 319 community members over the phone.
*Patrol Officers handled 30,349 calls for service, some by phone and some in-person.

"The life safety of our community members and our staff remains our highest priority," said Chief Jami Resch. "We are gathering information and adapting our response protocol in a flexible and thoughtful manner in order to best meet the public safety needs of our community. Our members continue to respond to emergency calls for service effectively and we appreciate those in the community who have filed reports online or by phone. Our collective efforts are strengthening our community's resilience during this critical time."
