Subject Arrested for Arson during Friday Night Demonstrations

On May 30, 2020, at approximately 12:57 a.m., a fire was reported on the 800 block of SW 6th Avenue. Portland Fire and Rescue responded to extinguish the fire, which was later determined to be an intentionally set fire by participants in the demonstration.

PPB Detectives and Portland Fire and Rescue Arson Investigators received information regarding the fire and a participant's interest in harming Police Officers. On May 31, 2020, 25-year-old Amelia Joan Shamrowicz was arrested and charged with Arson I, Riot, and Criminal Mischief I.

Detectives are continuing to investigate crimes that have been committed during the demonstrations. Anyone who has additional information regarding this arson should contact Detective Meredith Hopper at 503-823-3408 or
