On June 11, 2020, at approximately 6:00 p.m., demonstrators gathered at two locations within the City of Portland. A group gathered at Revolution Hall in Southeast Portland and a second gathered outside the Justice Center in Downtown Portland.

Thousands of demonstrators marched from Revolution Hall to Grant High School in NE Portland. During the march, demonstrators walked north and east through city streets. Once the demonstrators reached Grant High School, they peacefully assembled and spoke for several hours. After the demonstration, they marched back to Revolution Hall.

The second group of demonstrators began congregating at the Justice Center around 9 p.m. Demonstrators gathered at the fence line at Southwest 3rd Avenue and Southwest Main Street, eventually moving to SW 2nd Avenue and SW Jefferson Street. The demonstration continued for several hours. Officers observed demonstrators shake the fence and throw several projectiles.

Demonstrators began throwing commercial grade fireworks towards Officers at approximately 11:17 p.m. and a civil disturbance was declared. The crowd was given ample opportunity to disperse and were warned if they did not do so, they were subject to arrest or force. Officers began dispersing the crowd just after 11:30 p.m. Several arrests were made. The rest of the group walked to Pioneer Square dispersing a short time after.

Around 12:30 a.m. a smaller group of demonstrators returned to the area of Southwest 3 Avenue and Southwest Main Street. The police again announced the gathering had been declared a civil disturbance and ordered the group to leave. When the group refused to disperse police made several more arrests.

Information on arrests is still being compiled and an updated release will be published when this information becomes available. No CS gas was used by Portland Police Bureau members during this event.

Anyone with information about individuals who committed criminal activity at any event is asked to share that information with the Portland Police Bureau. Information can be sent via email to CrimeTips@portlandoregon.gov.
