On July 8, 2020, at 9:28 p.m., Portland Police Bureau East Precinct officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 13400 block of Southeast Harold St. Upon arrival, officers located over 25 bullet casings in the street, and two vehicles struck by gunfire.
A 10 year-old girl sustained a non-life-threatening injury near her eye when glass from the vehicle she was a passenger in shattered from a stray bullet. That vehicle was driven by the girl's mother, who had a bullet miss the back of her head by inches. Also in the vehicle, were children the ages of 11, 9, and 7. Fortunately, no one was directly struck by the gunfire. It does not appear that the vehicle occupied by the mother and children were associated to the shooting incident in any way (unintended victims).
This is an active investigation and PPB is asking for the public's help. If anyone has information about the shooting, please call the non-emergency line at 503-823-3333.
If you see a gun crime in progress, call 9-1-1.
