A protest in Downtown Portland Sunday evening led to six arrests.
On Sunday, October 4, 2020 at about 9:45p.m., a march began in Tom McCall Waterfront Park. The group walked to the new Multnomah County Courthouse at 1200 Southwest 1st Avenue. As the group arrived, they were warned via loudspeaker and social media not to vandalize the building or block traffic in the street. Failure to adhere to the order could result in arrest or use of force.
A few people spray painted the building. At least one arrest was made by Portland Police, and the suspect was transferred to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO). A support van that drove the wrong way on a one-way street and then blocked traffic was stopped and towed.
The group then marched to Central Precinct, 1111 Southwest 2nd Avenue. Some buildings were vandalized and more targeted arrests were made. The gathering marched to City Hall, and most of the crowd meandered away by about 12:30a.m.
Five people were booked by Portland Police into the Multnomah County Detention Center on the listed charges:
Patrick Welsch, 29, of Seattle, Washington -- Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree
Jeff Singer, 33, of Portland - Assaulting a Public Safety Officer, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Interfering with a Peace Officer, Escape in the Third Degree

Jason Grant, 22, of Vancouver, Washington - Criminal Mischief in the First Degree

A sixth person, Amber Purkapile, 21, of Portland, was booked by MCSO on a charge of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree.
