On November 30, 2020, at 12:49 a.m., officers from the North Precinct responded to a burglary alarm at a convenience store located in the 5800 block of Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Officers arrived and found the front door had been smashed in and it appeared entry had been made. The alarm company referenced a carton of cigarettes had been taken.

While checking the area for a suspect, an officer located an individual walking nearby who had a front pant pocket full of Slim Jim's (11 in total) and a transparent plastic garbage bag that appeared to be full. The officer stopped to talk to the suspect and was able to determine the garbage bag was stuffed with 4 cartons of cigarettes and 116 individual packs of cigarettes.

The suspect was identified as 37 year-old Nathan Bailey. Bailey admitted to burglarizing the convenience store. Bailey was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center and booked for the crimes of Burglary II and Criminal Mischief II, as well as two outstanding arrest warrants.

In total officers recovered $1,400.00 in merchandise that was able to be returned to the convenience store.
