Bullets Enter Occupied House in Woodlawn Neighborhood

An occupied home was struck by gunfire in the Woodlawn Neighborhood Thursday morning.

On December 31, 2020 at 1:32a.m., North Precinct officers responded to several reports of shots heard. When they arrived they found evidence of gunfire. The preliminary investigation suggests multiple shooters were firing at each other but left before police were notified.

A house in the 1400 block of Northeast Dekum Street was in the crossfire and struck with bullets. People were in the home at the time. No one was injured in the home. Officers are unaware of any injuries to those who left, although there is evidence a vehicle was hit before it was driven away. There is no suspect description.

As of this writing, there have been 879 reported shootings in the City of Portland in 2020, compared to 393 last year. That is a 123% increase.
