A man is facing DUII charges after causing two crashes in three days.

On Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 1:39p.m., North Precinct officers responded to a crash in the 2300 block of Northeast Columbia Boulevard. Officers determined that the driver of a 2000 Chrysler 300 sideswiped an SUV. The driver of the Chrysler, Michael P. Soto, 42, of Portland, was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer and found to be impaired. He was cited for DUII.

On Thursday, January 28, 2021, North Precinct officers responded to a three-car crash on southbound I-5 at Northeast Broadway. Soto was determined to be at fault for that crash, and was driving the same Chrysler 300 (photos). He was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. An occupant in another of the involved vehicles was also transported with back and neck injuries. Soto was evaluated by a DRE officer and cited for DUII and Reckless Driving.
