The medical examiner identified the homicide victim as Shawndell L. DeShazo II, 28, and determined his death was homicide by gunshot wound. His family has been notified of his death.

Three people were injured, one of them fatally, in a shooting in the Madison South Neighborhood.
On Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 8:43p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of shots heard in the 1800 block of Northeast 66th Avenue. When they arrived, they located two victims with gunshot injuries. Those victims were transported by ambulance to a hospital with what are believed to be non life-threatening injuries. Officers learned that a third victim, an adult male, was taken to a local hospital by private vehicle. The victim at the hospital was pronounced deceased.
Homicide detectives responded to investigate. No suspect information is being released. During the investigation, Northeast 66th Avenue and Northeast Hancock Street were closed between Northeast 65th Avenue and Northeast Broadway. They have now reopened.
