A 14-year-old boy was shot Thursday night in the Portsmouth Neighborhood.
On Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 11:04p.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of someone shot in the 8900 Block of North Woolsey Avenue. Officers learned that a shooting victim, a 14-year-old boy, was being transported by private vehicle to the hospital.
The Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) responded to investigate.
Investigating officers located a crime scene on the sidewalk of North Dwight Avenue between the North Trenton Street and North McCoy Court, next to a soccer field where the boy had been standing with some friends. Investigators learned that someone in a vehicle driving by the boys fired between 1 and 4 shots at them. The victim was struck in the side and seriously hurt, but the injuries are not life threatening.
