UPDATE: Attempted Murder Arrests Made Related to Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood Shooting (Photo)

Janero Rodriguez, 22, of Damascus, was arrested May 16, 2021 and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center (MCDC) on charges of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree (3 counts) and Unlawful Use of a Weapon (2 counts). A gun was recovered from the scene (photo).On Wednesday, May 19, 2021, Enrique Vallejo, 28, of Portland, was arrested in the area of Southeast 106th Avenue and Southeast Stark Street. He was booked into the MCDC on charges of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree (3 counts) and Unlawful Use of a Weapon (3 counts).

On May 16, 2021, at 4:39 p.m., officers from the East Precinct responded to a shooting call in the 12600 block of Southeast Taggart Street. As officers were responding, a shooting victim flagged down other officers who were dealing with an occupied stolen vehicle in 14100 block of Southeast Division. The shooting victim was related to the shooting call on Southeast Taggart.
The adult male victim suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
The Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) responded and are investigating. Several people have been detained as the investigation is underway.
ECST is asking that if anyone witnessed this shooting, please reach out. Please reference case number 21-131980.
Southeast Taggart Street will be closed from Southeast 125th Avenue to Southeast 127th Avenue.
