A suspect was arrested with a shotgun, handgun, and other weapons on a Tri Met bus.
On Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 1:18p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to Southwest Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and Southwest Bertha Boulevard on a report of someone carrying a shotgun on a bus. Officers found the armed suspect at the back of the bus. The suspect was uncooperative, but did not threaten the officers or anyone else with the shotgun. Officers were able to convince the suspect to come off the bus without pointing the gun at anyone. They were able to get the other passengers off the bus and take the suspect into custody safely.
In addition to the shotgun and shells, the suspect was found with a loaded handgun, restricted knives, and metal knuckles (photos). They were seized as evidence.
No one was injured. Jarrod Deferrari, 24, of Sunrise, Florida, was served a criminal citation for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, 2 counts of Possession of a Loaded Firearm in Public Place (City Code- 14A.60.010), and 4 Counts of Carrying of a Concealed Weapon. He was released to the custody of the Washington County Sheriff's Office, which was also conducting an investigation involving Deferrari.
