The motorcyclist killed in the crash at Southeast Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard and Southeast Clay Street on August 22nd is identified as William J. Anderson, 48, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death.
No arrests or citations have been issued. The investigation is still underway.

On Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 8:25 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to Southeast Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard and Southeast Clay Street on a report of a traffic crash involving a motorcyclist. The motorcyclist died at the scene.
The Portland Police Bureau’s Major Crash Team (MCT) responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
The investigation revealed that a car and motorcyclist were both traveling in the area of Southeast Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard and Southeast Clay Street. In the midst of a turn, the vehicles collided. The driver of the car remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
This was the 40th traffic fatality in Portland in 2021.
