Arrest Made in September Fatal Hit and Run

On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, Portland Police and United States Marshals arrested Gregory M. Anderson, 26, and booked him into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Manslaughter in the First Degree and Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver-Felony.

Anderson is accused of driving the 2006 Hyundai Sonata SUV that hit and killed Joseph J. Reilly, 35, near Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard and Southeast Holgate Boulevard on September 2nd. Anderson ran away after the crash.

A pedestrian has been struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver near Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard and Southeast Holgate Boulevard.

On Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 9:49a.m., Central Precinct Officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. They responded with Portland Fire & Rescue and American Medical Response paramedics. The pedestrian was deceased.

Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard is closed in both directions between Southeast Powell Boulevard and Southeast 17th Avenue and is expected to be shut down for several hours.

The suspect abandoned his car and walked away on foot. Officers are currently looking for the suspect in the area. He is described as a male, shirtless, with long hair pulled into a bun on the top of his head. Community members in the area are asked to all 911 if they see someone matching that description in the area, especially if that person is trying to hide or acting otherwise suspiciously.

The Portland Police Major Crash Team is on scene investigating. More information will be released when appropriate.
