A shooting in a Downtown Portland apartment building prompted a callout of the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT).

On Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 9:28p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to a report of a disturbance in an apartment building in the 1200 block of Southwest 11th Avenue. As they were responding they heard the sounds of shots being fired. As they moved to respond, they located evidence that someone may have been injured, but learned that the victim ran into an apartment on the 3rd floor. Due to the possibility that an armed shooting suspect was in the building, the officers secured the building and called SERT and CNT.

Officers made contact with an adult male victim who had a non-life threatening gunshot wound. He was uncooperative and refused medical treatment. The suspect was not located. The officers checked apartments throughout the building and verified there were no other victims.

No arrests were made. The Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) is investigating.
