Man Arrested After Shooting in Multnomah Neighborhood (Photo)

On November 7, 2021, at 2:52 p.m., officers from the Central Precinct responded to a shots fired call in the 3300 block of SW Spring Garden Street. Community members who called into dispatch reported hearing two shots being fired in the area and gave a description of a possible suspect. Community members also reported that the suspect may have been shooting at a vehicle that was no longer in the area.

When officers arrived in the area, they contacted a witness who gave a direction of travel for the suspect. When officers went to that area, they reported a possible additional shot being fired. Officers quickly established a perimeter and called for additional resources. Thanks to members of the community, officers were able to determine that the suspect was hiding in nearby bushes and believed that he was still armed.

A plan to contact the suspect was made and a custody team moved to contact him. During the contact, officers could see a green laser beam shining in the bushes near the suspect. The suspect was taken into custody without any force being used. Offices located a black, semi-automatic pistol with a green laser attached to it. A loaded, high-capacity magazine was located nearby.

Officers took 39 year-old Eric Lee Presley, Jr of Portland into custody. Presley was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center where he was lodged on charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Unlawful Discharge of a Weapon.
