UPDATE: Pedestrian Struck and Killed Identified

The deceased pedestrian is identified as Vivian Gayle Phillips, 70, of Portland. The other pedestrian struck in the crash remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Mrs. Phillips' family has been notified. As of this time, the driver of the vehicle has not been charged.



One pedestrian is deceased and another is in a local hospital with life-threatening injuries after they were struck by a vehicle on Northeast Fremont Street at Northeast 44th Avenue.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Northeast Fremont Street and Northeast 44th Avenue on December 21, 2021, at 5:59pm, and found one of the pedestrians had died of their injuries. The second pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The Major Crash Team is responding to assume control of the investigation. Northeast Fremont Street is currently closed from Northeast 42nd Avenue to Northeast 45th Avenue while the investigation is being conducted.
