Portland Police Continuing to Seek Public Help Solving a Hit and Run to a Pedestrian

February 28, 2013 16:41

Portland Police Bureau Traffic officers are asking for the public's help locating a vehicle possibly involved in a February 23, 2013 hit and run to a pedestrian in Southeast Portland.

Officers are seeking information about a dark-colored 2005-2007 Ford Escape SUV, which should be missing its driver's side mirror and would have minor damage along the driver's side front and side of the vehicle.

Pictures of a similar vehicle are being released to assist the public in identifying the vehicle type. Photos of the mirror recovered at the scene are also being released.

49-year-old Don Jeffrey Porter turned himself in to Portland Police on Sunday February 24, 2013, stating to police that he may be involved in the hit and run to 37-year-old pedestrian Sulema Hernandez-Rivas.

Despite having consistent damage on his vehicle, investigators have determined that the mirror left at the scene could not have come from Porter's 2013 Ford Escape, which was recovered by Portland Police from a local body shop. Police are looking into the possibility that more than one vehicle was involved in the crash.

Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact Officer Erik Koppang at (503) 823-2216 or CrimeTips@PortlandOregon.gov, reference Portland Police Bureau Case #13-15295.
