May 01, 2013 10:30

Portland Police Traffic Investigators arrested 28-year-old Jessica Peterson for Assault in the Second Degree, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII) and Reckless Driving. Investigators believe that Peterson was impaired by narcotics at the time of the crash.

The motorcycle rider, 26-year-old Chase Dillon Ivey, remains in serious condition at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with injuries suffered during the crash.

Investigators determined that Peterson was driving eastbound on Portland Highway in an Acura Legend when she crossed over into oncoming traffic and struck Ivey on his Suzuki motorcycle as he traveled westbound. Peterson then struck a Volkswagen Cabrio that was also traveling westbound, driven by 32-year-old Nyla Jano, who was not injured during the crash.

Peterson was booked into the Multnomah County Jail and will be arraigned today.
