Traffic #ALERT: Fatal Crash Involving Motorcycle, Crash Investigation Closes SB I-5 Freeway

A motorcycle rider is deceased after a crash on southbound Interstate-5 in Southwest Portland.

On Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 1:29a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to a report of a crash on I-5 southbound just north of the Southwest Brier Place overpass. When they arrived they discovered a wrecked motorcycle and found the rider of the motorcycle was deceased.

Officers closed the freeway to begin an investigation. Interstate-5 southbound is closed south of the Marquam Bridge. All southbound traffic is being routed onto northbound I-405. Vehicles coming southbound on I-405 will be routed onto northbound I-5 over the Marquam Bridge. The closure is expected to remain in place for several hours. The Portland Police Major Crash Team is enroute to investigate this incident.
