Guns were recovered after a DUII crash in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood.

On Friday, March 18, 2022 at 2:09a.m., East Precinct officers responded to a report of an injury crash in the 2900 block of Southeast 122nd Avenue. Due to heavy call load there were no officers available for about 10 minutes. But when officers could get there, they met Portland Fire and Rescue and AMR paramedics who were attempting to extricate the driver of a 2005 Nissan Armada that had struck the back of a flatbed tow truck.

Officers were alerted to two guns in the car, including a rifle and handgun, as well as multiple magazines including a drum magazine (photos).

The driver was transported to the hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers conducted a DUII investigation. Angel A. Ramirez-Espinoza, 21, of Portland, was served with a criminal citation for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (Alcohol), Reckless Driving, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm in Public (City Code).
