Officers on the Focused Intervention Team (FIT) seized a loaded gun and illicit drugs after an arrest of a suspect in a stolen vehicle.
On Friday, March 18, 2022 at 6:17p.m., Officers from FIT were patrolling an area of the Eliot Neighborhood which has been a hotspot for shootings recently, when they saw a stolen vehicle being driven in the area. They coordinated with other FIT officers and stopped the car, a 2021 Honda Accord Crosstour, near Northeast Knott Street and Northeast Rodney Avenue. The driver was arrested and the officers saw that he had an empty shoulder holster on him.
Upon further investigation, officers located a loaded .38 caliber revolver in the car as well as ammunition, methamphetamine, and evidence of drug distribution. Jerry R. Casin, 66, of Portland was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Methamphetamine (felony), and Delivery of Methamphetamine.
