Driver Killed in Highway 30 Crash Identified

The driver killed in this crash is identified as 44-year-old Joseph Dubois. His family has been notified of his death. An investigation by Portland’s Major Crash Team determined that Dubois was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control after a sweeping right curb in the roadway. There were no other vehicles involved in this crash. The injured passenger was treated at a local hospital and has since been released.

This is Portland’s 21st traffic related fatality of 2022.

A fatal crash investigation has closed down all lanes of Northwest St. Helens Road (Highway 30) in both directions near the St. Johns Bridge.

On Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 6:10a.m., North Precinct officers responded to a report of a crash on Highway 30 at milepost 6, which is just south of the St. Johns Bridge interchange. When officers arrived they found a single vehicle crashed into a power pole, with live wires on the street. Paramedics arrived and confirmed that one occupant was deceased. A second occupant, an adult female, was injured and transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Officers have closed Northwest St. Helens Road in both directions between the St. Johns Bridge and Northwest Kittridge Avenue. It's expected to remain closed for several hours.

The Portland Police Major Crash Team is enroute to investigate the crash.
