Man Deceased After Shooting in the Lents Neighborhood

On Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 2:43 p.m., officers from the East Precinct were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the 5800 block of Southeast 99th Avenue. When officers arrived they learned the victim had been taken to a fire station by a private party where he was then transported by ambulance to an area hospital. The man later died at the hospital.

During the investigation Southeast 99th Avenue is closed between Southeast Reedway Street and Southeast Knight Street. Additionally, Southeast Ramona Street is closed between Southeast 97th Avenue and Southeast 101st Avenue. The PIO is not responding to the scene. More information will be released when appropriate.
