The victim in this case is identified as 42-year-old Vincent Timothy, of Portland. Mr. Timothy’s family has been notified of his death, and they have provided the attached photographs for public release.

The suspect in this homicide, Frederick Deatric Moore, was arraigned this morning, June 16, 2022, charged with Murder in the Second Degree, Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver (Hit & Run) and other charges as determined by the District Attorney’s Office.

Moore entered a “Not Guilty” plea.

This crash that occurred near the intersection of Southeast 82nd and Southeast Center Street has been determined to be a homicide.

In addition to the Major Crash Team, Portland’s Homicide Unit also responded to the scene. Later, the Medical Examiner’s Office ruled this death a homicide. The driver, 40-year-old Frederick Deatric Moore, was arrested this morning, June 7, 2022, and charged with Murder in the Second Degree and Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver (Hit & Run). Moore is being lodged in the Multnomah County Detention Center.

The name of the victim will be released once the Medical Examiner has notified family. The investigation is ongoing. On Monday, June 6, 2022, at 9:05 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to a report of a crash near the intersection of Southeast 82nd Avenue and Southeast Center Street. When officers arrived they found a pedestrian had been struck by a car and died at the scene.

The Portland Police Major Crash Team is on scene to investigate the crash. During the investigation, Southeast 82nd Avenue is closed between Southeast Powell Boulevard and Southeast Holgate Boulevard.
