The pedestrian hit last night on Southeast Division Street has been identified as 61-year-old David Bruce Hoobler.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle being driven by 24-year-old Timothy Fisher was traveling eastbound on Division approaching 148th Avenue when Hoobler walked out into the street from the South sidewalk, directly into the path of the motorcycle. The area that Hoobler attempted to cross is not in a crosswalk.

Fisher laid the bike down and it skidded on it's right side, striking the pedestrian and knocking him to the pavement.

Fisher remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. He was not impaired by drugs or alcohol. Hoobler appears to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

No citations have been issued in this crash and the investigation is continuing.

This evening, Sunday August 4, 2013, at 9:22 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to Southeast Division Street, just West of 148th Avenue, on the report of a pedestrian struck by a motorcycle rider.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and found two patients, the pedestrian and the motorcyclist. The pedestrian was transported with life-threatening injuries while the motorcycle rider has been treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The motorcycle rider is cooperating with the investigation.

The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is at the scene investigating the crash.

Southeast Division Street is closed between 145th and 148th Avenue until the investigation is complete.

No additional details will be available until after 9:00 a.m. on Monday.
