UPDATE: Kenton Neighborhood Homicide Victim Identified (Photo)

The victim killed in the Kenton Neighborhood shooting is identified as Zamere A. Bentley, 25. His family has been notified of his death and provided the attached photograph for public distribution. They are asking for privacy and are declining interview requests at this time.

The Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and determined the cause of death was gunshot and the manner of death was homicide.

The injured victim was working as a driver for a rideshare company, and Mr. Bentley was a passenger.

The Portland Police Homicide Unit continues to investigate this case. On Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at 11:51 p.m., officers from the North Precinct responded to shots in the 1600 block of North Terry Street. Officers arrived to find two people in a car shot. The adult male driver was transported to an area hospital with significant injuries. The adult male passenger died at the scene.

The Portland Police Homicide Unit has responded to investigate the shooting. During the homicide investigation North Terry Street will be closed from North Fenwick Avenue to North Interstate Avenue. The PIO is not responding to the scene. More information will be released when appropriate.
