Early Morning Fight in Old Town Leads to Arrest of 27-Year-Old Man

On Saturday September 7, 2013, at 1:39 a.m., Central Precinct officers at Northwest 3rd Avenue and Couch Street witnessed one man assault another man.

Officers quickly arrested the suspect, 27-year-old Ephraim Ieremia Alefaio of Vancouver, and requested Portland Fire & Rescue personnel respond to treat the victim.

The victim, 29-year-old William Chambers of Southwest Portland, received a significant head injury. Chambers was transported to a Portland hospital where it was determined that his injury did not appear to be life-threatening.

Alefaio was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Assault in the Fourth Degree and Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree. He will be arraigned on Monday in Multnomah County Court.
