Victim Identified in Homicide in Old Town

The victim in this homicide is identified as 19-year-old Lauren Teyshawn Abbott, Jr. His family has been notified of his death and asks for privacy at this time.

The Medical Examiner determined the manner and cause of death to be homicide by gunshot wound.

On 7/29/22 at approximately 9:31 p.m., officers from the Central Precinct responded to a shooting near the 500 block of NW Couch St.

Upon arrival, officers found two victims struck by gunfire and rendered medical aid. One of the victims, an adult male, was transported to an area hospital by ambulance but was later declared deceased. A third victim arrived at an area hospital by private car with life threatening injuries. Detectives from the Homicide Detail responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.

W Burnside Street is currently closed between NW 4th Ave and NW 5th Ave and will be closed for several more hours as Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division process the scene.

Additional information will be released when appropriate. There is currently no known threat to the public.
